Hello Rebels,

Damus here! It’s an exciting time in Vega Conflict as we welcome our first Dreadnought into this modern version of the game. I am hard at work re-imagining the event structure based on our observations and feedback from you, but I wanted to take the opportunity to explain a bit about the upcoming New Frontiers event that will be starting as soon as Decimation ends next week, and running up until Termination starts.

First off, it should be pointed out that the only way to acquire the Frontier is to purchase Mk1 fragments from the weekend event shop. 500 of the necessary 1000 fragments to build the Mk1 version of the hull are in Decimation right now! An additional 500 fragments will be available next week in Termination, and the same amount will be available in each of the Core weekend events moving forward.

Starting on Monday, after Decimation ends, the New Frontiers mid-week event will begin. This event is exclusive to the Frontier itself and is where you will acquire ALL Mk upgrade patterns, Mods, and other tech that is exclusive to the Frontier hull.

So, how will all of this work? Very similar to our Core weekend events; beat targets, earn intel, buy items from the store. A temporary Saprophyte event sector will open up at event start, where the event targets will live, but ONLY the Frontier will be allowed to enter this sector. You will need the Frontier to improve the Frontier.

This event will run every week for the foreseeable future. Each week, a new target with improved payout will be added to the event, as will the next level of upgrade patterns, until everything is available. However, only a limited number (400) of each Mk upgrade pattern will be available in each event. This does mean you can’t just sit down and plow through the whole thing in an afternoon. But the alternative is, if you fall behind, getting the upgrades will be easier because you’ll be able to attack slightly more difficult targets for a significantly higher payout.

Why do it this way? It is our philosophy that, on some level, you should need a ship to upgrade it. Considering the power level of Dreadnoughts, that is especially true here. We also want you to use and find value in the content you earn and upgrade, instead of only using a hull at Mk6. The Frontier hull, from a power level standpoint, is a suitable replacement for a full fleet of hulls at a comparable level. This means a Mk1 Frontier is going to wreck shop against Mk1 tuned targets but might struggle a bit in targets tuned for Mk6 hulls. With this event, the Frontier has an exclusive content path that allows it to shine at every Mk level and provides a valuable use case for it, other than sitting in your inventory until it is fully upgraded.

Additionally, we’re also looking for more ways to give players something to do when the Core events aren’t running, and this event will start helping to fill that void. There is a lot more to come, no doubt I’ll be talking to you soon about the updated event model. Until next time!
