Greetings Commanders,

I’d like to take this opportunity to talk about our recent unit, the Sabre. We wanted to try something different with this unit and provide a new way to engage with world map targets. The GOAL with the unit was to have something that performed hit-and-run attacks with a high degree of success. To that end we tailored it to be fast, have high evasion while moving and hit on the run. However, we’ve heard your feedback and agree  we missed the mark. In addition the look of the unit strayed a bit too far from the War Commander standard.

We’ve put out other messaging on the changes but I’ll summarize them here:

  • Doubled the Damage Output

  • Added a 30% Damage Reduction from Turrets and Ground Units

  • Removed negative damage scaling applied against distant enemies

    • This was originally intended as a way to ensure they did more damage close-up

  • Altered the Firing Pattern to ensure a more consistent Damage spread

  • Corrected the issue that prevented them from targeting buildings while moving

The combination of these changes is intended to make the unit more consistent when driven by either Ruby or by simply attacking directly. It still retains the damage evasion while moving that helps with hit and run.

Some players wanted the unit to be better against buildings while others wanted it to be better against units. To let players have options on which targets this unit was more effective against, we also created 2 pieces of Variant tech. Infernus and Rocketeer. Infernus swaps the weapon to a flamethrower that does double Damage to Ground Units but slightly less Damage to Buildings, and the Rocketeer swaps it the weapon to a rocket that does double Damage to Buildings, but slightly less Damage to Ground Units.

Lastly, we will be adding a new, free warpaint next week that will adjust the look of the unit to be less polished and futuristic. As a Corpus unit we wanted to lean into their high tech nature but may have gone a bit far into our tuner fantasies. Or maybe we just wanted to bring you all into our family? Nah, just too futuristic.
