Crafting Materials: Tips for Efficient Farming

Getting the exact crafting materials you need can be challenging. Like with any probability-based system, there will be times when it feels like you're stuck in a "drought." But don’t worry! If you make use of all available resources, farming for materials doesn't have to feel like such a grind. Here are some key tips to keep in mind:

1. Understanding Strongbox Odds

A Strongbox can contain up to 24 different items. Does this mean opening 24 Strongboxes guarantees you’ll get the item you're looking for? Unfortunately, no. Each Strongbox you open has a 1 in 24 chance of containing your desired item. Every time you open one, your chances reset to 1 in 24, regardless of how many you've opened before.

To improve your odds:

  • Maximize the number of Strongboxes you open.
  • Ensure you're farming from fleets that drop the right Strongbox for the materials you need.

2. Crafting Fleets

Crafting fleets have a higher drop rate for blueprints than regular fleets, though getting what you need can still be tricky. These fleets are a great option if:

  • You have ships that can auto-target these fleets.
  • There are no active Supply Runs.

3. Supply Run Fleets

Supply Run fleets guarantee a Strongbox drop with every battle! The Strongboxes are tailored to a specific ship's upgrade tree. For example, a T4 Dread Battleship Box will only contain materials relevant to that ship's upgrades.

Pro Tip: Take advantage of every Supply Run to stack up on materials!

4. Monthly Event Prizes

During monthly events, you can earn Core Strongboxes in exchange for event points. These boxes have a more focused selection of cores, and Elite Strongboxes are guaranteed to drop at least one T4 Core.

  • If no event tech interests you, use your points to grab Core Strongboxes for guaranteed materials.

Final Thoughts

By approaching crafting from all available angles—Strongboxes, Crafting Fleets, Supply Runs, and Monthly Events—you can significantly reduce the time it takes to get the materials you need.

Good luck out there, and happy farming!
